BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTER’S BIG TASTE OF MARTIN COUNTY RAISED ATTENDANCE, AWARENESS, COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND MONEY FOR LOCAL KIDS MENTORSHIP PROGRAMS

Known as the Big Taste of Martin County, this annual fundraising event for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Palm Beach and Martin Counties was held at The Stuart Jet Center on Tuesday, October 15th.

This premier food and wine festival of the Treasure Coast delighted hundreds of attendees.
The jet hanger was a great setting for this fundraiser under an airplane hanger. Nearly 500 people attended from the community to support Big Brothers Big Sisters.

There was wall to wall food and drinks by over 30 restaurants throughout Martin County sampling and serving up bites of their signature dishes. A few of the participating restaurants were Bobby Rubino’s Place for Ribs, The Dolphin Bar & Shrimp House, Kyle G’s, Twisted Tuna, Berry Fresh, The Gafford, O Gourmet French Bistro & Catering, and Ellie’s Deli to name a few.

All attendees were invited to vote on their favorites.  The winners were: Best Soup –Twisted Tuna , Best Salad – Cypress on Ocean, Best Appetizer – Martin County High School Culinary Institute,  Best Entrée – Drift at Hutchinson Shores Resort & Spa, Best Dessert – O Gourmet French Bistro, Best Drink –Babe Wine , and Best Presentation  Martin County High School Culinary Institute.

The community came together for an evening of fun, food, craft beer, wine, and music by The Shakers.  Emceed by Virginia Sinicki (a former Big Sister) from the KVJ Show on 97.9 WRMF, the entertainment kept the music going all night long. By the end of the evening guests were dancing. The silent auction, and raffles were a big hit as many bids were online and mobile this year with many sought-after prizes from places like hotel stays, theme parks, Southwest Airline tickets, and many more. For an upgrade, guests enjoyed the “Big Experience” a VIP area with table seating with a special food display by O Gourmet French Bistro.

The evening brought together everyone for an incredible cause as the Big Taste of Martin County supported their mission to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth throughout Palm Beach and Martin Counties. The event raised over $60,000 allowing Big Brothers Big Sisters to continue to impact lives of young children of our community.

“We are grateful to everyone in the community for giving their support. This event helps us raise needed donations and awareness for our children,” says Yvette Flores, CEO or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Palm Beach and Martin Counties.
