School Based Mentoring

In the School Based Mentoring Program students are matched with mentors who meet with them at their school. Mentoring activities vary from match to match but may include tutoring, reading stories, learning activities or simply ‘hanging out.’ However, the child does not miss any academic classes- mentoring meetings are scheduled during a related arts period. Mentors are required to meet with their mentees for at least one hour each week over the course of the school year.

“I am so proud to have a Big Sister,” says Guadalupe, a third grader in our School Based Mentoring Program. “She’s helping me become a better reader.”
