Positive Mentoring Story by Rachel

Christian is in Kindergarten at Warfield Elementary. He is a very hyper active student. I remember this because it was difficult to interviewed him as he would not stay put. He would just make funny faces wanting attention and gave me answers that didn't have anything to do w/ the question I asked him. Well when the match came I chose Andre Boucher for Christian because he said that he can mentor any student hyper or calm. They were both introduced and Christian just had a big smile. The thing is that when Christian was mentored I was amazed how his Big Brother was mentoring him. Andre gave his attention to Christian and had patience to mentor Christian. At the beginning of the match it was hard for Christian to stay focus and stay in one place, but little by little he did improve not much but enough for him to play certain games like pulling a number out of a bag and Christian had to guess what number he pulled out, and saying the alphabet while the letters were on the table and if he forgot the letter he would have to start all over again. But even though he was still learning, and learning to stay focus a little longer.
